A long-standing, community-supported cancer center within a critical access hospital is hiring a Lead Oncology Nurse Practitioner to sustain and grow its oncology program. This role is central to maintaining access for a large rural population that would otherwise travel hours for care. With an experienced NP transitioning toward retirement, you will step into a high-impact position with immediate patient volume and continuity responsibility.
You will function as the primary on-site clinical leader, managing daily operations alongside visiting medical and radiation oncologists. The practice is fully built out with infusion capabilities, procedure rooms, on-site pharmacy, and dedicated oncology staff including RNs, MAs, and care coordinators. The workflow includes clinic visits, infusion oversight, benign hematology, and multidisciplinary coordination, supported by strong infrastructure and direct hospital integration.
This is a Monday–Friday role with no required call, designed to support long-term sustainability and reduce burnout. You will have full independent practice authority in New Mexico, meaningful patient relationships, and leadership invested in program growth. The position offers stability, autonomy, and the opportunity to shape oncology care delivery in a rural community.
