Job Title: Pupil Support AssistantLocation: Edinburgh
Salary: £14.02 per hour (PAYE)
Hours: Monday – Friday (half day Friday)
About the Role:
Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? 21 Health and Social Care is looking for dedicated and compassionate Pupil Support Assistants to work in special needs schools across Edinburgh. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with diverse and complex needs, helping them to achieve their potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Position Overview:
As a Pupil Support Assistant, you will play an essential role in the school community by supporting students with a range of additional support needs, such as learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments. You will work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to create a nurturing environment that encourages academic, social, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Individual and Group Support: Provide one-to-one and group support to children with special educational needs, tailoring your approach to meet their individual requirements.
Classroom Support: Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons, adapting resources as needed to ensure every child can engage with the curriculum.
Personal Care: Provide personal care support, such as assistance with feeding, toileting, and mobility, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
Emotional and Social Support: Build positive relationships with pupils to support their emotional well-being and social interactions.
Behavioural Assistance: Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in line with school policies and individual behaviour plans.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs is desirable, particularly in school or care settings, but not essential.
Empathy and Patience: A caring and compassionate approach, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
Flexibility: A proactive attitude to adapt to the varied needs of pupils.
